Dr. Mishal Al Harbi. RPDC CEO (A), is an accomplished executive with extensive experience in developing and executing business strategies and leading major operations and projects. He joined RPDC in 2017 as VP of Strategy and Planning where he led the strategic transformation and rescoping of RPDC business model to a one-stop-shop national center of technology commercialization. Dr. Mishal has helped in re-positioning re-invigorating the company in its journey to be a major player in the Saudi entrepreneurial ecosystem and supporting the transformation of Saudi institutional innovation into local content according to vision 2030.
Dr. Mishal has more than 25 years of industrial experience in oil and gas upstream management, production engineering, operations, exploration, business strategy development and R&D strategic management. Dr. Mishal has served previously as the Chief Operating Officer of Saudi Aramco Upstream Technology Company, a Saudi Aramco subsidiary, and Chief Technologist in Saudi Aramco Upstream R&D center. Dr. Mishal has served in other critical responsibilities during his long career with Saudi Aramco where he led engineering project teams in developing Saudi Arabia mega oil and gas fields (Central Arabia, Manifa, Karan, Ghawar and Khurais) as division head of reservoir management, production engineering, Reserve assessment, and Production planning. Dr. Mishal has also served as part of Saudi Aramco Strategic transformation team focusing on developing Saudi Aramco capital investment efficiency strategy.
In 2006, Dr. Mishal Joined the Kingdom’s negotiation team of the PNZ concession agreement and was directly responsible for leading the Upstream conventional due diligence team. In 2008, he joined King Abdullah Petroleum Studies and Research Center (KAPSARC) founding team as Director of Research and was directly responsible for developing KAPSARC institutional strategy, research program, International Advisory board, and the inaugural research projects.
