Dr. Ahmed Alfadhel 

Chief Technologist – KFUPM Projects

A researcher, mentor and entrepreneur, Dr. Ahmed Alfadhel is a Chief Technologist at the Research Products Development Company (RPDC). Prior to joining RPDC, he was a postdoctoral research fellow at Rochester Institute of Technology in the Microsystems Engineering department, where he was leading research projects funded by the National Institute of Health (NIH) and the U.S. Air Force. His expertise is in the field of nanofabrication as well as additive manufacturing techniques to realize flexible electronics, microsystems and sensing technologies based on multi-functional nanomaterials, which could revolutionize the Internet-of-Things (IoT) for healthcare, defense and consumer electronics. Dr. Alfadhel filed several US patents, and his research work was recognized internationally and published in reputable journals and conferences.

He is also an entrepreneur where he co-founded a startup company that manufactures high quality nano-porous ceramic membranes for several applications, including nano-filtration, microsensors, and catalyst support.

Dr. Alfadhel holds a Ph.D. in electrical engineering from King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST), and BS in electrical engineering from Rochester Institute of Technology, Rochester, NY, USA.

His passion is to utilize his skills to bridge the gap between national R&D and industry needs, and contribute to the Kingdom’s movement to build a knowledge-based economy driven by innovation.
